What is this site?
This is a place where I try to enter into the conversation and to help the bisexual community in educating people about bisexuality. Unfortunately, bisexuals face a lot of homophobia from the straight community, but also another brand of hate and microaggressions from within our own lgbt+ communities.
Your title isn't very nice.
Biphobia isn't very nice.
Are you bisexual?
I am cisgender biromantic asexual, so strictly speaking, no. I did identify as bisexual for about six years, though, because I had no idea what asexuality was. However, being biromantic, I'm still a part of the bi community, which includes biromantics and bisexuals of various romantic/sexual orientations, and I still face biphobia from people. Though I will regularly talk about 'bisexuals', I generally mean 'biromantic bisexuals' but if you are one of those then this blog is relevant to you as well.
What will this blog talk about?
Mostly I'm concerned with educating people about bisexuality and possibly other polysexualities, and calling out and fighting biphobia. This will include definitions, statistics, graphs, semi-well researched sources, spotlights on famous bisexuals who may or may not have had their sexuality erased, etc. I'll also keep current on lgbt+ news here.
However, this blog will pretty exclusively talk about bisexuals. I'm not really in a position to talk about trans people (though as this blog keeps running I'm sure I'll direct you to some bisexual trans bloggers who can talk more about the trans experience), and frankly the lg community often are the people who direct their biphobia at us, so.
Are there any terms I might be unfamiliar with?
